Sorority Volunteers at the Hanover Infirmary
Through Hanover Charities, a group of young professionals from across the USA fulfilled their public service mission by volunteering at the Infirmary in Lucea.
The group’s dedication to public service came from their sorority, the Delta Delta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, at Alabama A&M University. Jacinta Massey, who along with Katrin Casserly organized the group’s visit, says that the young women believe that servant leadership is of the utmost importance, and that their volunteering at the Infirmary was an invaluable experience.
The group gave residents care packages which included toiletries, socks, puzzle books. The young women also spent time conversing with residents as well as creating art work. Residents thoroughly enjoyed the group talking about life in the US and in Jamaica.
